Important WARNING: Three Things You Must Know About The UK DIGIS Grant
Our review of the UK DIGIS Grant programme turned up three points everyone interested in the programme should understand.
1. Apply immediately, because rounds can close fast
UK DIGIS applications are accepted in rounds a few times a year, and there is no fixed closing date. Applications are assessed first come, first served, and a round closes once the funding set aside for it is used up. At that point the application form is disabled until the next round opens. Rounds can close very quickly. Some have closed within about five days of opening, because of the rush. If you are eligible and a round is open, don’t wait.
2. Understand how this grant ties to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
UK DIGIS is not a general handout. PASDO runs it to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and that shapes who gets funded. The programme is designed mainly to advance SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth and other SDGs.
This matters for your application. Every application is assessed on the purpose of the support you request. Your application must show that the service would do at least one of the following:
- increase productivity in a business, freelance, self-employed or start-up endeavour that could contribute to economic development in the UK
- contribute directly to economic growth in the UK
- help achieve one or more of the SDGs
You choose whichever fits best and explain why. You don’t need to meet all three. A clear, honest explanation of how the support helps your work grow, or helps meet a goal, gives you the best chance.
3. Never pay anyone to apply, and be careful who you deal with
Applying for UK DIGIS is free of charge. You never have to pay a fee to apply, and you never have to pay the grant back. If anyone demands money to submit your application, secure a place or guarantee a grant, treat it as a warning sign and walk away.
Two points keep this clear:
- Help with your application is different. Some people or businesses offer paid services connected to grants, such as drafting your application statement. That is a separate service and not a fee for applying. You are free to use one or not, and PASDO doesn’t require it, so pay only if you want the help and you understand what you are buying.
- The grant covers only part of the cost of the service you buy. You pay the rest to the approved service provider. That is not an application fee, and it is how the programme is designed to work.

What Is the UK DIGIS Grant?
UK DIGIS stands for the UK Digital Intervention Grant for Individuals and Small Businesses. Our review of the programme shows that it helps freelancers, start-ups and small businesses across the UK pay for digital support such as virtual staff, a website or social media management.
It works as a part-funded subsidy. If your application is approved, UK DIGIS covers between 10% and 40% of the cost of the service, and you pay the rest. You don’t receive cash. Instead, you receive a grant code to redeem with an approved UK service provider within a set period.
